Hip hop developed in the South Bronx in New York city during the late 1970s. Hip hop cultural movement that attained widespread popularity in the 1980s and the 1990s also is the backing music for R. Hip hop also started from the underground. Hip hop dance has form from the 1960s and 1970s and has a short history. The popular dance related to hip hop is break dancing. Hip hop was strong and meaningful back in the day than now. Now everyone is rapping the same and using the same tracks. Back when, hip hop came with its own style of rap. In 1972-1974 Dj Hollywood an American old school hip hop dj and rapper begins rhyming over popular hits. Influenced by kool herc, hip hop pioneers Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Caz started djing at house and street parties across the bronx. Also form universal Zulu Nation. The Zulu Nation was the largestblack group in the bronx. Entering the 1980s, Kurtis Blow was the first rapper to appear on national tv, on the show ” Soul Train”. The first rap movie was in 1986 formed by fab 5 Freddy and directed by Charlie Ahearn called “Wildstyle”. That film brung out many graffiti artist and M.C.s/Master of Ceremonies. Rockit was the first jazz hip hop track. The nations first only rap radio station was in Los Angeles called KDAY. At this disco was dominating the radio air waves. Graffiti murals on subways began to form by Lee Quinones. The sugar hill gang written by grandmaster Laz, started the first commerical rap recording. The first hip hop label was Mercury Records by Russell Simmons. The first to sign to Simmons label was Kurtis Blow, who released “Christmas Rappin”. The Fat Boys, a three man fat group had a member called the human beatbox that can beatbox better than anyone. That brought on another beatboxer, Doug E. Fresh. Run DMC was the first rap group to get nominated for a grammy. 1988 and 1989 the L.A. rap group N.W.A. was born and released their album “Straight Outta Compton”. There first album told stories about life in the streets. Hip hop fashion in the 80s people were wearing sportswear and tennis shoes. Men had high top fades, jheri curls, and bobs. The famous clothes was adidas that was brought out by Run DMC. They also had large gold rings and chains. The female rappers were wearing bamboo and door knocker earrings like female rap group salt n pepa. Coming into the 90s was the most popular time and years for rap. In rap fashion, people wear starter jackets and timberland shoes. The high top fades from the 80s became very popular in the 90s. The famous colors to wear were red,green,and black. Rap group N.W.A. brought to gangsters, dickies pants. Another famous shoe was chuck Taylors. The negative is when people rap about guns and violence, and the children does what the rappers rap about. The positive is that children and society wants to rap and sing because of other artist. Rap has become world wide, and my opinion is that hip hop will never go out of style.
